Introduction
Students learn about the struggle for woman emancipation in Indonesia by reading the excerpt from Pramoedya's novel entitled The Girl from the Coast, news report on Megawati Soekarnoputri's ascension as the first Indonesian female president and first year analysis report of Megawati governance regarding on social justice issues.
Goals
Students develop their sense of history, are able to make social analysis in a critical but constructive way. They are also asked to propose a concrete solution and personal attitude rationale (value, principle, etc) for their own life that nurture freedom and participation for woman in the society.
Directions
First, students read the first chapter of The Girl from the Coast, News report on Megawati assumption as President, and public critic on her governance. Second, students analyze the text, make summary, predict, and evaluate. third, students make personal attitude rationale and concrete proposal or contribution (idea, concept, action) in regard to the topic.
